Touchy Apps

Since the version 2.0 update to the iPod Touch / iPhone system, I've been having a play around with the free apps.

The apps I've downloaded so far for my iPod Touch are in the table below.  The means its currently on the Touch, whereas the means that the app has been removed for one reason or another.

AIM

Air Sharing

Analogue Clock

aSubnet

Baseball

Bible
This seemed to good to be true, to pack so many copies of the Bible into one app. This is just a glorified web page and contains none of the actual Bible texts, so you need an active Internet connection to use it.

BibleReader
In contrast to the application above, this one does include 10 (yes Ten!) versions of the Bible. For some reason they have included the MKJV rather than the KJV. The others are ASV; Darby; FrenDarby; Luther; NETFree; SpanishRV; WEY-NT and YLT.

Dual Level

eReader
I have a load of eBooks in PDB format, some of which were converted from Gutenberg ASCII text files, and several others that I'v had on a Palm Vx and more recently an HP 4700 Pocket PC. To convert the ASCII text to PDB, I used a commandline utility called txt2pdbdoc.

Facebook

Google

Holy Sword
I downloaded this as I thought it would be from the same stable as Godsword (on Linux) or MacSword (on a Mac), which it probably is. But apart from the name and the Old/New Testament selector, the whole thing is in Chinese - Not much use unless you are Chinese.

iEphemeris

iPint
I know this is nothing but a gimmick, but try pouring a 'virtual glass' of beer over the next time you are trying to get the attention of the guy behind the bar in a busy pub...

LifeGame

LinkedIn

Moonlight Mahjong Lite
If you ever get this one, keep it out of sight of children with grubby fingers. One little urchin said to me whilst I was away at an hotel - "What's that mister?, do you have any games on it?". From then on, once I'd got it back, I had to tell a few fibs each time he asked me about the Touch, like "the battery is flat!"; "I left it in my room!" etc.. Eventually, he got the message and he went back to his Sony PS.

Mandelbrot

MySpace Mobile

PalRingo

PocketPedia

Remote
Apart from WordPress, this has to be one of the best apps available Free or otherwise.

The Scriptures
This contains the KJV of the Bible along with a few other douments from LDS.

Shakespeare
The complete works of William Shakespeare.

Sol Free Solitare

Sudoku Lite

UK Numbers

VNC Lite

WordPress
To use this you need access to a WordPress website either at wordpress.com, or a private system running a copy of WordPress from wordpress.org like I have at Penfold
