Apple Aperture Web Themes |
|
If you use Aperture from Apple, like me you'll have noticed that the choice of Web Themes is a bit feeble - especially when you compare them with iPhoto on the consumer end of the market. Finding where Apple has stuffed the existing Web Themes is also a bit of a task, they aren't in the '/Library/Application Support' folder where you might expect. After a bit of digging around, I found them in the 'English.lproj' folder way down inside the Aperture.app resources tree. To make life easier, I copied one of the existing Web Themes to another name and then did a symbolic link from that to a more easily reachable (and memorable) folder in my Pictures folder. That way I could play around with the Theme locally without messing the Aperture installation up. To modify a theme it is relatively simple.. All I did was tweak the global.css and detail.html files a wee bit. I have included a few Aperture generated image galleries on the main menu (to the left) And to see what Aperture is up against, there is a test gallery using Adobe Lightroom beta 3 and a few more using PhotoFolio. (M$ Internet Exploder doesn't parse the CSS and it can't handle PNG transparency correctly so the image is what it should look like)
