First German Mars Mission makes sidestep to Venus, Ground station in Bochum generated echoes from Venus The team of German Space Agency AMSAT-DL reached another milestone on the way to send a spacecraft to Mars on 25 March 2009. From ground mission control station in Bochum (located in the observatory IUZ Sternwarte) radio frequency signals were sent to Venus.

Pilton School ARISS Contact
Despite the UK being in the grip of the worst snow for nearly 20 years, the UK ARISS team of Carlos Eavis G0AKI, Howard Long G6LVB and assisted by Ciaran Morgan (M0XTD) helped pull of a stunning direct contact between Sandra Magnus on board the ISS using callsign OR4ISS and Pilton The Bluecoat Primary School in Barnstable, England (callsign G0NPV) on Friday 6th February at 1452hrs UTC.

Listen for New Sats using Web Receiver
You can listen for the new Amateur Radio satellites, launched Friday Jan 23, by using a Web based Software Defined Radio (SDR). Some of the Radio Amateurs who were involved in the very successful Delfi-C3 / DO-64 Amateur Radio satellite have made available a WebSDR receiver that listeners around the world can use to receive signals from the new Amateur Radio satellites.

ESEO Project - latest news!
The ESEO project is moving ahead! AMSAT-UK is getting ready to support it with on board transponder and telemetry equipment. The latest news item on the ESA Education website (http://www.esa.int/SPECIALS/Education) gives up to date information about the progress made so far.

Update on the European Student Earth Orbiter - ESEO Project.
Some good news for a change!AMSAT-UK is delighted to announce that the ESEO project is going ahead once again and that although it is now a LEO mission it is expected to have a number of amateur sub-systems and at least one transponder on board.

AMSAT-UK Colloquium 2009
The dates of the AMSAT-UK Colloquium 2009 (/Colloquium/) are Friday 24th July to Sunday 26th July, at the University of Manchester, UK. This will be our 24th Colloquium, and as usual, we hope to hope have an interesting and fun programme for all our visitors.

Oscar News - new editor required
Unfortunately the Oscar News editor, Charles Riley G4JQX, has had to retire from role due to health problems. We thank him for his four years of hardwork and hope that he will make a speedy recovery.

Video of UK ARISS contact on BATC video streaming site
The British Amateur TV Club (BATC) have produced a great video of the recent International Space Station contact with pupils at Budbrooke school in Warwickshire.
